On April 24, 2015, at the Hidden Lakes Golf Course in Derby, the Wichita Division of the Kansas Chapter, NECA participated in the Workforce Alliance’s Jobs FORE Youth Golf Tournament to raise over $10,000 to go directly to sponsor youth employment and internships for students in South Central Kansas.
Recognizing the positive impact work experiences have for young people in terms of promoting positive work habits, increasing degree attainment and creating career awareness, expanding the number of youth job opportunities is an important strategic goal for the Workforce Alliance. Since 2009, the Workforce Alliance has placed nearly 800 young people in temporary and part-time jobs with dozens of employers.
Also, the Workforce Alliance is seeking to involve more employers in their career development strategy to increase the number and quality of work experiences for youth and have partnered with Manpower to make it easy for employers to participate. The Workforce Alliance can partner with an organization to offer a structured and supported 8 to 10 week work experience/internship for a deserving young person ages 16 to 21. The young person, employer and community experience invaluable benefits. Please visit the Workforce Alliance website for more information.
