For Who?
- Category 1: Establishments with 250 or more employees at any time in the previous calendar year including full-time, part-time, temporary and seasonal employees.
- Category 2: Establishments in a designated industry (includes construction) with more than 20 employees at any time in the previous calendar year including full-time, part-time, temporary and seasonal employees.
- Category 3: Establishments with less than 20 employees at any time in the previous calendar year including full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees.
What's the Rule?
- The final rule requires employers (as specified) to record and submit workplace injury and illness records electronically.
- Category 1
- Form 300: Log of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses
- Form 300A: Summary of Work- Related Injuries and Illnesses
- Form 301: Injuries and Illnesses Incident Report
- Omit employee name, employee address, the name of the physician or provider and the facility name of treatment.
- Category 2
- Form 300A: Summary of Work- Related Injuries and Illnesses
- Category 3
- No electronic reporting is required.
When is it Effective? Updated 06/27/2017
- January 1, 2017 – The final rule is effective
- August 1, 2017 - Electronic reporting platform becomes available
- December 1, 2017 – Electronic submission deadline of 2016 data
- July 1, 2018 – Electronic submission deadline of 2017 data
- March 2, 2019 – Electronic submission deadline of 2018 data.
- Electronic submissions for each subsequent year will be required by March 2 of the year after the calendar year covered by the forms.
UPDATE Where are Records Submitted?
- OSHA has provided the Injury Tracking Application (ITA), a secure website that offers three options for data submission.
- Manual entry in web form.
- Upload a csv file to process single or multiple establishment simultaneously.
- Transmit data electronically via an API (application programming interface).
