Each year the chapter provides Kansas apprentices a chance to win a cash prize by submitting a 250 word essay on a topic provided by the Board of Directors. In IBEW Local #271, sixth period apprentice David Gill was selected as a winner with his essay answering “What are the advantages of alternative energy sources in today’s electrical industry?” The check was presented by the Executive Director of Kansas NECA, Ryan Courtney.
